These instructions are for the latest version AOL 9.0 SE on how to choose your Pop-up Preferences. To set your Pop-up Preferences, please follow the steps below:
- On the AOL Toolbar, click SETTINGS
- Under the letter "P", click Pop Up Control Settings
- Check to enable or uncheck to disable the following options:
- Suppress pop-ups from Web sites I visit using AOL software.
- Play a sound when a Web site pop-up has been suppressed.
- Suppress AOL member-only special offers
- To specify a site from which you wish to allow pop-ups, type the Web address
(e.g., www.123loadboard.com) in Allow only these sites (suppress all others), then click ADD (repeat for each site you'd like to receive pop-ups from)
- Click SAVE
- Click the X in the upper right corner to close the Settings window
NOTE: You can also change your Pop-up Preferences at any time by going to AOL Keyword: Pop-up Preferences.
NOTE: You can allow or disable popups anytime by clicking the "Blocking Pop-ups" or "Allowing this site" button at the bottom of the web site window.

How do I know when a Pop-Up window has been blocked?
Each time a Pop-Up window is blocked, you'll hear a sound or the Pop-Up Guard button will flash with this symbol,
, depending on which settings you've selected.
How do I show Pop-Up Guard button in the MSN Toolbar?
If the Pop-Up Guard button doesn't appear in the MSN Toolbar, click
, and then select Toolbar Options. On the Toolbar Buttons tab, check the box next to Pop-Up Guard.
How do I turn the Pop-Up Blocker on and off?
Turn the Pop-Up Guard on and off by clicking its button on the MSN Toolbar. When the button label reads 'Pop-Ups Blocked', the Pop-Up Guard is turned on and most pop-up windows are blocked. The number of Pop-Up windows that have been blocked is shown in brackets on the button. When the button label reads 'Pop-Ups Allowed', the Pop-Up Guard is turned off, allowing all Pop-Up windows to appear.
How do I allow pop-up windows on the current website?
On the Pop-Up Guard menu, click 'Allow Pop-Ups for this Site'. This allows Pop-Up windows on specific websites or intranet sites to appear.
On the MSN Toolbar, click the
to the right of the Pop-Up Guard button and then click 'Pop-Up Guard Settings'.
Click the 'Allow List' tab.
In the text box, type the web address (URL) of the website where you want to allow Pop-Up windows and then click 'Add'.
How do I know when a Pop-Up window has been blocked?
When a window is blocked, the Pop-Up Blocker icon will animate
, play a sound and the number of Total Pop-Ups Blocked displayed in the menu will increase.
How do I turn the Pop-Up Blocker on and off?
In the Pop-Up Blocker menu, you can select 'Enable Pop-Up Blocker' to check or uncheck the menu item. Pop-Up Blocker is on and enabled when it's checked and off when it's unchecked.
How do I see pop-ups that have been blocked?
To view Pop-Up windows that have been blocked, click the Pop-Up Blocker menu, select 'View Recently Blocked Pop-Ups' and select an item from the sub-menu to see what was blocked.
The sub-menu only lists pop-ups that were blocked in the current browser session. The list is automatically cleared when you close all your browser windows.
What if something I want to see is getting blocked?
If Pop-Up Blocker is blocking something you want to see, there are three ways to override it:
Turn off Pop-Up Blocker by clicking the Pop-Up Blocker menu and unchecking 'Enable Pop-Up Blocker'.
Press and hold the CTRL key while clicking a link to override the Pop-Up Blocker and this will allow any pop-up windows to appear.
Add the source of the Pop-Up window to your 'Allowed List' by clicking the Pop-Up Blocker menu and selecting 'Always Allow Pop-Ups from....' Then select the site from the 'Sources of Recently Blocked Pop-Ups' list and click 'Allow'.
To change Pop-up Blocker settings
- Open Internet Explorer.
- On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.

If you want to see pop-up windows from a specific Web site, type the address (www.123loadboard.com) of the site in the Address of Web site to allow box, and then click Add.

Tip: To temporarily allow a site to display pop-ups, click the Information Bar when it notifies you that a pop-up has been blocked. Then click Temporarily Allow Pop-ups.
To block pop-ups even if they are launched when you click a link or button on a Web site:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
- Select the High setting in the box near the bottom of the dialog box.
Note: If you want to see pop-ups that are blocked when you have this setting turned on, hold down the CTRL key while the window opens.
- Select "Edit" from the taskbar at the top of the browser screen
- From the drop-down menu choose "Preferences..."
- Then, click on the arrow next to the Category menu entry labeled "Privacy & Security". A drop-down menu appears from which you select "Popup Windows".
- In that dialog box click the "Allowed Sites..." button.
- In that dialog box, enter 123loadboard.com, then press the "Add" button to the right of the input field.
- Press the Ok button to dismiss the "Allowed Sites..." dialog.
- Press the Ok button to dismiss the "Preferences..." dialog.
Start by opening the Options window of Firefox.
Then click the "Web Features" option on the left side.
By default, Firefox blocks annoying popup windows on Web sites. Unchecking this option will disable popup blocking.

Some sites make legitimate use of popup windows. Therefore, the popup blocking feature has a simple whitelist mechanism to allow certain sites to open popups anyway. To add our website to the whitelist, click Allowed Sites and enter the www.123loadboard.com and click Allow.

To remove a site from the whitelist, select that site from the list and then click Remove Site. To clear the whitelist completely, click Remove All Sites.

How do I know when a Pop-Up window has been blocked?
When the Pop-Up Blocker spots an incoming ad, your cursor will change briefly to look like this:
and the Pop-Up Blocker button will display this icon:
as well as the number of pop-ups blocked since the last time the Toolbar was installed.
How do I turn the Pop-Up Blocker on and off?
If you visit any site, like the Teleroute site, which has pop-ups you want to see all you have to do is click on the Pop-Up Blocker button and the site will be added to your computer's invisible 'whitelist' of sites whose pop-ups you don't mind seeing. If you want to block pop-ups again and remove a particular site from your 'whitelist', all you have to do is click on the Pop-Up Blocker button again. The button text will change from "Site Pop-Ups allowed" to show how many Pop-Up ads have been blocked. This shows that the pop-up blocker has been re-activated for this site.
To disable the Pop-Up Blocker completely, open the Toolbar Options window and clear the checkbox next to Pop-Up Blocker in the Accessories section.
